HEXA SYSTEM
The DWC hydroponic system was designed for cultivating outdoor herb plants. They must be placed outdoors in order to receive at least eight hours of light per day, especially in the growth and flowering phase. The system takes advantage of ease of use of the DWC technique because the user chooses the type and number of plants and must enter the necessary amount of water into the system for its functioning.
The System.
The system can be composed of any number of vases according to users’s needs. This means that they take a combination scale on one or more levels side by side; adopting a very simple or a more complex one; choosing whether to use one or three levels; articulating the structure as it sees fit, even using it as a room divider or separator and being able to arrange and organize the space thanks to it.
1. Double Function Joints
The vases are hexagonal due to their intrinsic and useful geometric quality. As nature teaches us, they better cover a wide space, as a beehive.
The pots and hexagonal bases are easy to position where it is most desirable by the user, using male – female joints positioned laterally, which allow also a good grip during transport.
2. The Vertical Structure
The pots form a compact and stable structure both in height and in length as they have joints on two opposite sides and they can be overlapped by a vertical element, the “adapter collar”, between the lower base of one piece and the higher base of another pot. The collar is nothing but the difference of thickness between the lower base of a vase and the upper one.
The colours chosen symbolize the colours of nature, of the trunks and the crowns of trees.
3. How does it work?
Each jar can hold a maximum of 6 L of water, and in it only one plant can be grown – one plant per pot – which requires nutrients to grow optimally and in a florid way. The nutrients to be inserted in the water are equal to 10 ml per plant, and they need to be multiplied for the number of vessels per level. Water and nutrients are therefore inserted in each single hexagonal module and the oxygenation compressor must also be activated. A retractor is attached to it and to the desired number of PVC 5 mm pipes.
How to create a green space
with different configurations
The way the user could create and organize the space are multiple and various. A wide range of options is possible.
From above here are some possible compositions. The green structure can also act as a divider to separate two or more outdoor areas.
Nothing prevents the user from using the pots even in a covered and internal context, obviously in this case there will be some precautions to be taken.
